After an introduction by Mr. Bellow Mr. Amis spoke about the concept of masculinity in
modern literature, especially in the poetry of Philip Larkin and
Robert Bly. He spoke about how the confusion and uncertainty about
male identity and roles in society are reflected in these works.
After his remarks, he took questions from the audience, which
included Mr. Bly.
