Mary Tillman talked about the book she wrote with Narda Zacchino, Boots on the Ground by Dusk: My Tribute to Pat Tillman, published by Modern Times. Former professional football player Pat Tillman was killed in Afghanistan on April 22, 2004. In this book his mother recounts his life and her efforts to discover the truth about his death and why it was originally misreported. She was originally told that her son was killed in an ambush, and then later informed that he was killed while chasing enemy forces. Mary Tillman eventually found out that Pat Tillman was killed by “friendly fire,” shot in the head three times by U.S. troops. Ms. Tillman talked about how she came to learn the truth about her son’s death and described her efforts to find out why it was originally covered up. The guest interviewer was Tony Capaccio, Pentagon correspondent for Bloomberg News.
