Ms. Morton spoke about the impact that a president’s marriage has on his term, and she also spoke at length about the role of first ladies. She focused on specific presidents and how their wives have helped shape American history. She spoke briefly about her book, Hidden Power: Presidential Marriages that Shaped our History, published by Anchor Books. Following her presentation she answered questions from members of the audience.
