Following two days of oral arguments on same-sex marriage, a panel of legal experts reviews the cases before the Supreme Court. The previous day the court heard arguments in Hollingsworth v. Perry, a case about the legality of California’s Proposition 8, which bans gay marriage. Earlier that day, the court heard arguments in United States v. Windsor, a case challenging the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a federal statute that defines marriage as between one man and one woman. The panel included an attorney for a plaintiff in each of the original cases and other legal experts who authored amicus briefs in the cases.
