Panelists discussed maritime and port security funding, security standards development and certification, Operation Safe Commerce, and how commercial carriers, shippers and importers are addressing security needs. They also spoke about technological changes including the development of “smart containers,” rising fuel and insurance prices, and special security issues facing the cruise ships. Following their presentations, the panelists responded to questions from members of the audience. close
