The subcommittee heard testimony from consumers, medical policy analysts, and medical providers on U.S. health care policy concerning malpractice by physicians. Specifically, the committee heard from the victims of physicians previously convicted one or more times for medical malpractice about their experiences and the government policies that prevent consumers from learning the malpractice history of doctors. The subcommittee also heard testimony on managed health care plans, the consumer’s choice concerning medical providers and other health care reform initiatives. close
