Steven Rattner, former counselor to the Obama Administration, and the State Department’s Chief Economist Heidi Crebo-Rediker spoke at the World Affairs Councils of America’s national conference. Mr Rattner discussed the auto bailout, saying that addressing the “fiscal cliff,” the impending tax increases and budget cuts at the end of 2012 if Congress fails to agree on a new budget, is crucial to the nation’s economic health now and in the future. Ms. Crebo-Rediker discussed attracting foreign companies and job creation. She argued that one of the great opportunities is shale gas and an abundant low-price gas supply. Part of a national security conference Friday hosted by the World Affairs Councils of America. close
