An environmentalist, representatives from the lumber and housing industries, and legislators took part in a forum entitled, “Ax Rising Lumber Prices: A Congressional Approach,” during the 1993 legislative conference of home builders. Issues raised in the discussion included federal regulations concerning timber growth and consumption, the effect of the recession on lumber prices and home construction, and the export of timber. Following their prepared remarks, the panelists responded to questions from members of the audience. close
