Robert Dallek examines the foreign policy decisions made by world leaders from the United States, China, Britain, France, and the Soviet Union following World War II. Mr. Dallek argues the respective countries' heads of state ruined the opportunity for a new approach to international affairs after the war and contends that their reliance on what the author deems "power politics" fomented future conflicts and precipitated the Cold War.
