C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Carson City, Nevada, from July 8-12 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter Communications local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed.

Conrad Buedel and Steve Achard talked about their book, Lost Legacy of Carson Valley: The Rise and Fall of the H.F. Dangberg Ranching Empire, in which they tell the story of Steve’s family, the Dangbergs. They spoke about how H.F. Dangberg immigrated to the U.S. and acquired over 33,000 acres of land and began his ranching empire, as well as the family turmoil that led to the fall of their company. They also toured the Dangberg Ranch.
