Nina Bernstein discussed her book The Lost Children of Wilder: The Epic Struggle to Change Foster Care, published by Pantheon Books. The book, an account of the New York foster-care system, is Ms. Bernstein’s attempt to show her readers the effects that the legal and legislative battles have on the people involved. A 1972 class action suit filed on behalf of Shirley Wilder is still unresolved. After the presentation, Ms. Bernstein answered questions from members of the audience. close
