Mr. Bond gave the commencement address to students being graduated by Longwood University. He talked about his grandfather, who had been born a slave but achieved an education. Longwood University is in the county of one of the cases that made up the Brown v. Board of Education desegregation case fifty years ago. Mr. Bond talked about the county’s reaction to desegregation and other civil rights issues.
