Los Angeles Times Festival of Books

A panel discussion was held about the U.S. Constitution and changes in its wording, interpretation, and implementation over the years. Topics included changes in the courts and the implications they have. The panelists responded to questions from members of the audience. 
Jim Newton, the moderator, is the author of Justice for All: Earl Warren and the Nation He Made. John Dean is the author of a trilogy concluding with Broken Government: How Republican Rule Destroyed the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branches. Erwin Chemerinky is the author of The Conservative Assault on the Constitution. Henry Weinstein, a founding faculty member of the University of California-Irvine School of Law, is a long-time legal affairs reporter for the Los Angeles Times.
“The Living Constitution” was a Taper Hall panel from the 2011 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books from the University Park Campus of the University of Southern California. The program opened with scenes of the festival and programming information.
