Bob Huffaker, Bill Mercer, George Phenix, and Wes Wise talked about their book When the News Went Live: Dallas 1963, published by Rowman and Littlefield. The book is about the television coverage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The authors, all broadcast newsmen in Dallas at the time of the assassination, covered the unfolding events as they occurred at a pace too fast for print journalism. They spoke about the arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald and the attainment of credibility for broadcast journalism. Dan Rather moderated the discussion. Following their discussion, the journalists responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.
