For the Anniversary of the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the C-SPAN School Bus Traveled to Warm Springs, Georgia to visit the Historic Site of Roosevelt’s Little White House. Site historians, Charles Barnes and Mary Thrash, along with resident, Robert Copeland, showed and talked about President Roosevelt and the Little White House. The president suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at the “Little White House” while having a portrait painted, and working on papers. The following morning, his body was transported by train to Washington, where a funeral service was held at the White House. That evening, the funeral train left for the president’s home in Hyde Park, New York, where he was buried along the banks of the Hudson River. Footage courtesy of the National Archives was shown throughout the interviews. close
