Operation HOPE officially launched a national financial literacy campaign, “Banking on Our Future Across America,” for inner city youth and minority communities. Among the issues they addressed were home ownership and community development, financial planning for independence, and other economic issues such as health care and retirement planning. It was part of what the group called a “new civil rights movement.” Former Representative Kemp and the Rev. Lowery hosted for the conference and Mr. Boston moderated the panel on involving the community in the program. close
