Robert Liscouski, former Department of Homeland Security assistant secretary for Infrastructure Protection, talked about homeland security and responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. He talked about the federal investigation into who leaked information about an al-Qaeda plot that surfaced the previous week in which an explosive device was to have been detonated on a U.S.-bound airline flight. He also reacted to a video clip of May 9, 2012, congressional testimony by FBI Director Robert Mueller requesting that Congress reauthorize counter-terrorism tools enacted in 2008 that expire at year-end. These include the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), the 1978 law that allows warrantless surveillance of foreign suspects, including those who communicate with U.S. residents. close
