Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf talked about his book In the Line of Fire: A Memoir, published by Free Press. In the book, President Musharraf alleged that then Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage threatened to “bomb Pakistan back to the Stone Age” if Pakistan did not cooperate with the Bush administration’s fight against Al Qaeda. In his address he said that the world has a distorted view of Pakistan. He argued that while a few militant extremists get the lion’s share of the press coverage, the majority of the country is moderate, tolerant, democratic and committed to fighting terrorism. Following his remarks, President Musharraf took questions from audience members. close
