Mr. Lowen talked about his book, Lies Across America: What Our Historic Sites Get Wrong, published by New Press. He focused on how many of our most visited historic sites tell the wrong story and are not historically accurate. He talked about sites of supposed Indian massacres overstate the dangers of 18th-century frontier living, and Helen Keller’s Georgia birthplace where a Confederate flag flies over the house of early NAACP supporters. After his prepared remarks he answered questions from the audience.
