A panel discussion was held on how left coalitions worked together during the late-Sixties and early-Seventies to bring about political change. After their papers were presented, the panelists responded to questions from members of the audience. Allen Matusow made comments and moderated.

Melissa Estes Blair talked about “What Necessity Breeds: Feminist Networks in Denver, 1967-1975;” Rachel Pierce talked about “The Politicians of Women’s Liberation: Feminism in Congress;” and Todd Holmes talked about “Hippies, Housewives, and Hard Hats: The Coalition of La Causa.”

The panel “Political Networks: Coalition Building on the Left in the Late 1960s and 1970s” was held during the 102nd annual meeting of the Organization of American Historians at the Hilton Washington. close
