Brian O’Neill talked about the legal implications of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Topics included possible criminal and civil charges against BP; potential legal costs for state, local and the federal government; and non-financial effects that oil spills have on communities. Mr. O’Neill was an attorney for 32,000 Alaskan fishermen and natives who brought a civil suit against Exxon after the Exxon Valdez aground in Alaska’s Prince William Sound in 1989, spilling almost 11 million gallons of crude oil.

Mr. O’Neill participated from Minneapolis.
