After introductory remarks by Michael Devine and Clifton Truman Daniel, Richard Kirkendall talked about the roots of President Truman’s Containment Policy and his approach to the post-World War II communist threat.
“Civil Liberties and the Truman Peace Program” was the opening address of the 2011 Symposium, “The Civil Liberties Legacy of Harry S. Truman.” It was held at the Key West Marriott Beachside Hotel.
