As part of the NEMA mid-year conference Mr. Latham and Mr. Carwile talked about the Hurricane Katrina disaster in Louisiana and Mississippi. They showed slides of pre-landfall preparations and of the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina and accompanying storm surge. They also talked about the command structure of disaster relief operations, jurisdiction and political issues, response resources, and public safety and security. They ended with summaries of statistics and lessons learned. close
