In the first Senate session since the inauguration Democratic and Republican leaders outlined their priorities for the 113th Congress. Majority Leader Harry Reid spoke about the inauguration and introduced the first ten bills of the session. Senator Reid said the Senate would be dealing with immigration, transportation spending, education, gun control, tax loopholes, postal service changes, Hurricane Sandy aid and renewing both the Violence Against Women Act and Farm Bill. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell congratulated President Obama on his inauguration and said the Senate should begin the session by dealing with federal spending and reducing the debt. close
