Author Walter Olson summarized the main arguments in his book, The Excuse Factory. He stressed that anti-discrimination laws protect many unsatisfactory employees at the expense of productivity and other employees. Executive Director for the Office of Compliance Ricky Silberman then commented on the book. She highlighted her areas of agreement with Mr. Olson and areas which she thought he could have pursued more completely. They also took questions from the audience. close
