Professor Robbins talked about his book, Last in Their Class: Custer, Pickett and the Goats of West Point, published by Encounter Books. The author described tales of cadets who performed courageously and heroically in battle despite finishing at the bottom of their class in the early days of West Point Academy, including Generals Custer and Pickett. He explained how these cadets, termed “goats,” were central to the battle of Gettysburg and the battle of Little Big Horn. After his presentation the author answered audience members' questions. close
