President and Mrs. Obama hosts a reception in the East Room of the White House to observe Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month. President Obama spoke about achievements of the past five years relevant to the LGBT community and noted two executive orders that he was having drafted to further his efforts for equality and LGBT rights. The president was introduced by Jim Darby, who married his partner of 51 years, Patrick Bova, on June 2, 2014, a day after same-sex marriage became legal in Illinois. close
