David Murphy talked about his book What Stalin Knew: The Enigma of Barbarossa, published by Yale University Press. Mr. Murphy examined what he saw as Stalin’s blunder in ignoring extensive intelligence reports preceding Germany’s attack on the Soviet Union in 1941. For the book, he drew upon Soviet archival material including two newly uncovered letters from Hitler to Stalin in which Hitler states that Germany will never invade the Soviet Union. Following his presentation, Mr. Murphy responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
