His examples range from why people vote against their own interests to how the usage of language or “framing” of words can change popular opinion (inheritance tax versus death tax).
Gary Marcus is a psychology professor at NYU and the director of the NYU Infant Language Learning Center. He is the author of The Birth of the Mind: How a Tiny Number of Genes Creates the Complexity of Human Life and editor of The Norton Psychology Reader.
