James Kinter from the Center for Ocean-Land-Atmosphere Studies (COLA) talked about the sciences of climatology and climate dynamics, and responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. He discussed recent weather anomalies and global climate change, and the accuracy of predictions made for Hurricane Irene, which hit the East Coast the previous weekend. Other topics included the federal agencies that work with COLA, the use of drones to gather hurricane data, the difference between weather and climate, and what is needed to improve predictions for the intensity of hurricanes.
