Betsey Burton talked about her book The King’s English: Adventures of an Independent Bookseller, published by Gibbs-Smith Publishers. The book examined the struggles and satisfactions of being an independent bookseller in a time when their business was increasingly threatened by big discounters and online bargains. She was the founder and owner of The King’s English Bookstore in Salt Lake City, a small bookstore that she has kept running for nearly 30 years. She also publishes the Inkslinger, a regular publication consisting of book reviews and author interviews. Ms. Burton also read revealing lists from some of America’s top independent booksellers and answered questions from members of the audience. close
