Sen. Bob Kerrey, candidate for the 1992 Democratic presidential nomination, spoke to a government class at St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire on American health care policies. His lecture was delivered approximately three weeks before the first 1992 presidential primary in New Hampshire. Sen. Kerrey discussed the high costs of health care in the United States, and stressed the need for health care policies that would provide preventative care and long term care for all Americans. He discussed his health care proposal, which he said was not nationalized health care, but rather universal access for health care with a method for keeping control of medical costs. After his opening remarks, Sen. Kerrey responded to questions from students in the audience. close
