General Keith Alexander argued cybersecurity threats cannot be addressed without stopping information leaks to the media. He said that people such as Edward Snowden, who intentionally disclosed to the press classified details of several top-secret U.S. and British government mass surveillance programs, are no heroes and that the real heroes are the people who work to protect the country and civil liberties.
