A citywide interfaith service was held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Auditorium to commemorate the victims of Hurricane Katrina on the first anniversary of the hurricane’s landfall. National, state, and local leaders spoke and clergy from various religious backgrounds offered spiritual remarks and prayer. Bishop G.E. Patterson, presiding bishop of the Church of God In Christ, Inc. and pastor of Temple of Deliverance Church of God In Christ in Memphis, Tennessee, delivered the keynote address. close
