Karen Evans and Timothy Karr gave their perspectives on the ability of the U.S. government to shut down Internet communications in the event of a cybersecurity attack following recent reports that Senators Lieberman, Collins, and Carper plan to reintroduce in 2011. According to some, the legislation gives the President a “kill switch” for the Internet. Ms. Evans supports the Lieberman-Collins-Carper bill. Mr. Karr has serious reservations about the current language in the bill.

Following their remarks Deborah Wheeler spoke about the use of the Internet in recent unrest in the Middle East and government efforts to block access by citizens. close
