Matthew Continetti talked about his book The K Street Gang: The Rise and Fall of the Republican Machine, published by Doubleday. The book is about members of the Republican Party who have been under investigation for ethical issues while in office. He argued that the major problems in the Republican Party began when Rep. Tom DeLay was elected to be the House Majority Whip in December 1994. He also examined the effect the growing number of lobbyists has had on what he describes as the “corruption” of the Republican Party. After his presentation he answered audience members' questions. close
