Chief Justice Rehnquist’s coffin lay in repose on the funeral bier first used by Abraham Lincoln as officials, dignitaries, and well-wishers passed by to pay their respects. 


Visiting officials in this portion included President and Mrs. Bush, Senator Biden and former Attorney General Ashcroft.
