Poet and novelist Robert Penn Warren interviewed the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., in his office in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 18, 1964, as research for Mr. Warren’s 1965 book, Who Speaks for the Negro. The Reverend King discussed his work in the civil rights movement, the future of African Americans, and his nonviolent philosophy.
