A program on journalism in Iraq included:

Joel Campagna was interviewed on September 1 by remote link from New York City about the dangers of journalism in Iraq. The Committee to Protect Journalists is a New York City-based nonprofit organization founded in 1981 to promote press freedom worldwide.

Freelance journalist Laila Al-Shemmary interviewed Iraqi journalists about the Iraqi press, its changes since the fall of Saddam Hussein, their concerns about security and their thoughts on press freedom issues. The interviews were taped in early 2006 in Baghdad. A video clip was shown of Nabil Jassem’s talk show.

According to the group Reporters Without Borders, more than 100 journalists and media support workers have been killed in Iraq since the war began in 2003, most of whom were Iraqi and other non-Western citizens. close
