President Johnson read a proclamation to the nation the day after John F. Kennedy was assassinated. He praised the life of the 35th president and asked the nation to pause on Monday, November 25th to mark the state funeral. The audio was accomapnied by an image of President Johnson, and video of President Kennedy in Texas and of his funeral. The video was recorded by the Naval Photographic Center. close
