At a homecoming rally Senator Tim Johnson and his wife at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, Senator Johnson spoke publicly for the first time since suffering a brain injury in December 2006. In sometimes humorous remarks he acknowledged his slurred speech and thanked his supporters. At the end of the event he received a birthday cake decorated for his 60th birthday while the crowd sang “Happy Birthday to You.”
