Professor Peter Onuf compared John Adams' and Thomas Jefferson’s views of the Constitution and the role of divided power. He said that, in many ways, the two were similar despite the fact that both they and their supporters claimed to have had great philosophical differences. He concluded that Jefferson’s views were eventually adopted by the public as the concept of American nationhood. After his remarks, he answered questions from members of the audience. close
