The Aviation Subcommittee of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee members heard testimony concerning ValuJet Airlines' aircraft safety and maintenance program. Much of the testimony focused on the airline’s large rate of growth and its practice of using subcontractors, rather than ValuJet employees to perform maintenance on its aircraft. ValuJet president, Lewis Jordan, and the mechanics' contractor company Sabretech’s president, Steve Townes provided testimony on this panel of the hearing. close
