President Bush and other dignitaries addressed the large crowd at the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the settlement of Jamestown. The president talked about the history of Jamestown and about the United States' responsibility to continue spreading democracy around the world. After his speech the president greeted persons on the dais, then took the baton and led the orchestra briefly.

Virginia Company explorers landed on Jamestown Island on May 14, 1607 to establish the English colony. The celebration was held at Anniversary Park, near the living history museum and the archeological site. close
