Vikrant Reddy talked about his Right on Crime think tank’s proposal for reducing federal prison populations and spending by improving monitoring and supervision programs. Under the plan more low-level and non-violent offenders would be monitored and supervised through parole, probation, electronic monitoring, and better drug courts. The House and Senate were considering a bipartisan bill, the Smarter Sentencing Act, that would reform mandatory minimum drug sentencing policies.
