Professor Mark Tompkins talked about the history of presidential politics in South Carolina, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Topics included changes in party affiliation and the Republican Party, the strength and numbers of Christian evangelicals, factionalism and race issues, and the state’s high percentage of active military, veterans and its strong pro-defense views.
