Molly Ivins discussed her views on journalism and politics with Douglas Foster of the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California-Berkley. She talked about her childhood background and upbringing in a conservative household and how her views on civil rights sparked her opposition to that upbringing. Ms. Ivins also discussed her first experiences in journalism and studying abroad and at Columbia Journalism School as well as her various stops working for different newspapers around the country. She gave her perspectives on being both a reporter and a columnist, the role of women in journalism, the future of newspapers, and current political issues.
