Ms. Allende discussed her life and career with Ms. Arana. Ms. Allende is the author of ten books including The Infinite Plan, Paula, Stories of Eva Luna, and Portrait in Sepia. She talked about what it means to be an author of international recognition, as well as specific moments in her life, such as writing Paula in response to the death of her daughter. Ms. Allende also talked about the death of her uncle, overthrown Chilean leader Salvador Allende, in 1973. She also answered questions from members of the audience.

Ms. Allende was born in Chile and worked as a journalist there and in Venezuela until 1984. close
