The Security Council debated and unanimously approved a resolution demanding that Iraq release foreign detainees held behind the Iraqi borders. The meeting of the Security Council was prompted by Iraq’s announcement Friday, August 17, that foreign citizens of aggressive countries would be moved to military locations that would be likely targets of a military attack. The resolution included a demand that Iraq take no action to jeopardize safety, health or security of the detainees. The program is joined in progress. close
