Participants spoke about news coverage of Iran’s election. Among the issues they addressed were the use of information from social networking sites, efforts by the Iranian government to block and suppress information about protests following the election, and the ability of journalists to report from Iran following the elections. A freelance journalist talked about his detainment in an Tehran prison following his reporting of the election and subsequent protests.

Iason Athanasiadis spoke about his experiences in Iran during and after the elections. He was jailed at the direction of Iran’s Intelligence Ministry and held for three weeks in solitary confinement at Tehran’s Evin Prison. close
